Phoenix, AZ: Arizona Opera's latest mounting of Carmen brings Daniela to both Tucson and Phoenix in her debut with the company. This production marks Daniela's second outing as the fiery Carmencita, having sung it to great acclaim at The Santa Fe Opera in summer of 2014. Of those performances the Albuquerque Journal wrote, "Daniela Mack matches a bounty of rounded curves with her sultry mezzo voice, dark enough to be rebellious yet bright enough to keep the character constantly intriguing. One can easily believe her seducing Don Jose into abandoning all sense of duty. No one will be able to claim this isn’t the 'real Carmen' in either voice or appearance.” Performances kickoff on January 30th and run through February 7th, 2016.

Rounding out her musical appearances in Arizona, Daniela will also perform in a duet recital with Alek Shrader as part of the Tucson Desert Song Festival. At the piano will be Allen Perriello, head of music at Arizona Opera. The pair will be performing their favorite pieces including works by de Falla and Rossini, plus some Argentine songs and more. This event is one night only --- February 2, 2016, in Crowder Hall at the University of Arizona School of Music, 7:30pm.

Boston, MA: Daniela Mack makes her Boston debut with Boston Baroque this Friday, October 23rd in the title role of Vivaldi's oratorio Juditha Triumphans. Daniela shares "I'm so happy to have the opportunity to perform this rarely heard gem of a piece with Boston Baroque. They are such a gifted and sensitive group of musicians, and they know this repertoire inside out. I have sung several baroque pieces, but this will be my first time performing with a period orchestra."

Juditha Triumphans is Vivaldi's only surviving oratorio and marks Boston Baroque's season opening. The fast rising star mezzo is thrilled for the opportunity this piece and occasion afford, affirming "Before discovering this piece, my knowledge of Vivaldi's music was limited to his Gloria and some orchestral music. It's been a joy to discover this oratorio. It is full of beautiful and accessible music, and the character of Juditha is strong and brave, which I love. I can't wait to share it!"

The one-night only performance takes place at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall at 8pm.

San Francisco, CA: This month Daniela Mack appears in Christopher Alden's celebrated production of Handel's Partenope at San Francisco Opera. Says the singer, "I'm ecstatic to be back in my home theater, singing some of my favorite music!"

Daniela discovered her love for Handel years ago as an Adler Fellow at San Francisco Opera, and it was there that she understudied and watched some of opera's greatest artists in this repertoire. When asked what returning to the San Francisco stage is like she reflects, "It's surreal to now be on stage with such a stellar group of colleagues performing this gorgeous music."

In his Olivier Award-winning production director Christopher Alden moves the action to 1920s Paris, brilliantly updating Handel's comedy about Queen Partenope of Naples and her three royal suitors. Daniela sings the role of the disguise-wearing Rosmira, of whom she says "is such a wonderful and multi-faceted character, with no shortage of fire, passion and determination, and I can't wait to bring her to life on this stage."

Partenope opens this Wednesday, October 15 at 7:30pm and runs through November 2 at San Francisco Opera.

Interview: Daniela discusses CARMEN debut

Daniela discusses her upcoming performance as Carmen at the Santa Fe Opera. She reflects, "She's a woman who knows her own mind...this is my first crack at the entire role of Carmen and I feel a mix of giddiness and excitement with a little bit of 'terrified' (!) thrown in there...there is such a legacy of amazing singers who have performed it...the beauty of being in the theatre is that no two artists are the same and every take is going to be different."
